Best Adobe Premiere Rush Alternatives (2026): Where to Go Before It Shuts Down
Premiere Rush support ends September 30, 2026. The best alternatives for Mac, iPhone and Android — including Adobe's own replacement — and how to migrate.

Adobe Premiere Rush stops being supported on September 30, 2026, and Adobe has warned the app may stop functioning entirely after that date. If you're still editing in Rush, you have weeks, not months. Adobe's own replacement is Premiere mobile (free, on iPhone and, since September 22, 2026, Android). If you want a like-for-like desktop-plus-mobile Rush replacement, the realistic options are CapCut, LumaFusion, DaVinci Resolve, or a purpose-built tool if your content is mostly talking-head and short-form.
The full discontinuation timeline is covered in is Adobe Premiere Rush discontinued. This page is about where to go next.
Deal With Your Projects First
Before you evaluate anything, get your work out. Rush projects do not open in other editors — there is no export path to a CapCut or LumaFusion project file.
Do this now, not in late September:
- Export every project you might need as a finished video. Highest quality settings available. Once Rush stops opening, an unexported project is gone.
- Locate and back up your source media. Rush managed media in its own library. Get the originals onto an external drive or cloud storage where you control them.
- Screenshot complex timelines you'd want to rebuild. Not glamorous, and much faster than reconstructing from memory.
- Note your presets — title styles, colour settings, export presets. You'll be recreating them by hand in the new tool.
Rush projects that sync via Creative Cloud are also affected. Cloud sync does not preserve editability once the app is gone.
Adobe's Own Replacement: Premiere Mobile (iPhone and Android)
Price: Free (with paid Creative Cloud tie-ins) · Platforms: iOS, Android (since September 22, 2026)
Adobe's direct successor to Rush on mobile. Free, with a genuinely capable multi-track timeline, Adobe's audio tools, and integration with the rest of Creative Cloud.
Good if: You edit on an iPhone or Android phone, you're already in the Adobe ecosystem, and you want the closest thing to a supported continuation.
Problem: It's mobile only. Rush was cross-platform — Mac, Windows, iOS, Android. Premiere mobile launched on iPhone in 2025 and on Android on September 22, 2026, but there is no desktop version. If you edited Rush on a desktop, this does not replace what you had. Adobe's answer for desktop is Premiere Pro, which is a different class of application at a different price with a considerably steeper learning curve.
The Best Alternatives by Situation
If you want the closest cross-platform replacement: CapCut
Price: Free, with CapCut Pro subscription · Platforms: Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, web
The most direct Rush replacement in terms of scope: a free multi-track editor across desktop and mobile with synced projects. Feature-rich, well documented, huge template library.
Caveats worth weighing: CapCut has been moving previously free features into Pro over time; its 2025 terms of service update drew significant criticism over rights to uploaded content; and several AI features process on ByteDance servers rather than on your device. See CapCut for Mac for the detail.
If you edit seriously on iPad or iPhone: LumaFusion
Price: One-time purchase (~$30) · Platforms: iOS, iPadOS, Android
The most capable mobile editor available, and a one-time purchase rather than a subscription — which, after a subscription app was discontinued out from under its users, is worth something. Multi-track, proper audio mixing, external drive support, genuine professional output.
Good if: Your Rush workflow was mobile-first and reasonably advanced. LumaFusion does more than Rush did.
Downside: No desktop version, and a real learning curve compared to Rush's simplicity.
If you want free and powerful on desktop: DaVinci Resolve
Price: Free (Studio version ~$295 one-time) · Platforms: Mac, Windows, Linux, iPad
The free version is a genuinely professional editor with the best colour tools in the industry and no watermark or export limits. Nothing else free is this capable.
Downside: It is a professional application. The learning curve is substantial and it's hardware-hungry. If you chose Rush because it was simple, Resolve is the opposite of that choice.
If you're on a Mac and want speed: Final Cut Pro
Price: One-time purchase (~$300) · Platforms: macOS, iPad
Exceptionally fast on Apple Silicon, one-time purchase, mature and stable. The standard for serious Mac editing.
Downside: Mac and iPad only, and the price is real. Not aimed at social video workflows specifically.
If it's free and simple you want: iMovie
Price: Free · Platforms: macOS, iOS
Already on your Apple devices, genuinely fine for straightforward cuts, and the lowest-friction option on this list.
Downside: Limited. No usable auto-captions, minimal control, and you'll outgrow it if Rush was doing real work for you.
If your content is talking-head and short-form: BlitzCut
Price: Subscription, under $6/month billed annually · Platforms: macOS, iOS, iPadOS
If what you actually did in Rush was cut talking-head videos, add captions and post to social, a general-purpose editor is more tool than the job needs. BlitzCut does that specific workflow: automatic silence removal, one-tap animated captions, speed control from 0.5x to 4x, with silence removal on-device and projects synced between Mac, iPhone and iPad — which is the cross-platform coverage Rush had and Adobe's replacement doesn't.
Downside: It's focused. If you need multicam, colour grading or complex compositing, use one of the general editors above.

Picking Without Overthinking It
Rush on iPhone or Android, staying with Adobe → Premiere mobile.
Rush on desktop and mobile, want the same again free → CapCut, with the terms-of-service caveat understood.
Rush on iPad, want to own the software → LumaFusion.
Want maximum capability for nothing → DaVinci Resolve, and accept the learning curve.
Mostly talking-head videos for social → a purpose-built tool will be faster than any of the general editors, because the work you're doing is cutting silence and adding captions, not compositing.
Want to never repeat this migration → prefer a one-time purchase or an on-device tool over a subscription that can be discontinued. Rush's users learned that the hard way.
Frequently Asked Questions
When does Adobe Premiere Rush stop working?
Adobe ends technical support on September 30, 2026, and removes Rush from the Creative Cloud desktop app on that date. Adobe has warned the app may stop functioning entirely afterwards. It was already removed from all app stores on September 30, 2025.
Can I still download Premiere Rush?
No. It was removed from Adobe.com and every app store on September 30, 2025. If it isn't already installed on your device, there's no supported way to get it.
What is Adobe's official replacement for Premiere Rush?
Premiere mobile for phones, and Premiere Pro for desktop. Premiere mobile is free on iPhone and, since September 22, 2026, on Android. There's no desktop version, so it doesn't replace Rush's coverage on Mac and Windows.
Can I open my Premiere Rush projects in another editor?
No. Rush project files don't import into CapCut, LumaFusion, Resolve or anything else. Export every project you care about as a finished video and back up your source media before September 30, 2026.
What's the best free alternative to Premiere Rush?
CapCut for the closest like-for-like cross-platform experience, or DaVinci Resolve if you want maximum capability and will accept the learning curve. On Apple devices, iMovie is free and already installed if your needs are simple.
If Rush was mostly cutting talking-head video for social, BlitzCut does that job specifically — silence removal, captions and speed control on Mac, iPhone and iPad, with silence removal running on-device.
